Tools for Students DVD
SKU:BCD038
Tools for Students™ is designed as an in-home, in-workshop, and in-class exercise leader for use with students. Emphasis is placed on "team collaboration" between the student, teacher and parent. Parents and teachers should view the five-minute introduction recapping highlights of the Tools for Teachers™ DVD first. Then proceed to use the exercises on this DVD in class or at home. Diana Henry speaks to students, revealing what brains and bodies are all about, with descriptive visuals and humour. This sets the stage for helping students connect the two in the 26 sensory processing exercises that follow.
Activities are divided into:
- MOVEMENT tools - quick "get going," and/or calm-down activities.
- MUSCLE tools - to develop upper body control for sitting and writing.
- POSITION tools - teach how to measure and check for proper seating and alternative working positions.
- WRITING/CUTTING tools - hand warm ups for writing and a description of the appropriate way to hold a pencil.
- MOUTH tools - for students who need oral motor input; includes "Gum Rules."
- BODY tools - how individual sensory preferences related to the hands, eyes, ears, and nose can assist with attention or result in sensory overload.
- QUIETING tools - including "Body Stretch," "Hot Dog", and "Floppy on the Ball" for use at school or at home.
- SURVIVAL tools - Rough and tumble play and the importance of recess are emphasized for their importance on attention, motor development, socialization and learning.
DVDs are formatted for use in North America and will work on all computers with the proper software installed to play a DVD. By Diana Henry O.T.
